The empress tree is a plant we grow in The Meadow with a fascinating history. Fossils of this tree have been discovered dating back over 7 million years, and the tree is prized for its fast growth and ability to regenerate from existing root systems after being harvested for wood. In times of need, the leaves of this tree have served as emergency food, additionally, the beautiful flowers of the empress tree are commonly used to enhance the flavour of teas or miso.
